My dream was to draw -- my grandmother took my two brothers and I to Disneyland, southern CA -- oh way back when it first opened. There we walked by artists drawing likeness of other Disneyland participants. That was it! Art forever.

In high school I loved art. My mother said yes to art classes as long as I took classes in typing, shorthand, dictation, etc. So I did. Even with all that typing I was given a college scholarship in Fine Arts.

In my family girls do not go to college. Girls are typists until marriage and children. So off on my own at 17. I do like to eat, take a shower and oh--sleep in a bed, so work, work, and more work. Life takes its own course.

In 1974 with two small children in tow I attended a life drawing class at a local community college. In 1994 with children grown I again found a class at another community college. But that eating, shower, and sleeping thing took precedent.

I retired and a moved to Las Vegas summer of 2019. Then in summer 2020(aftercoved) I found the most wonderful artists and life drawing sessions. And here I am, determined to follow my dream of all those years ago!

My drawings are a bit -- still trying to figure it all out. I have taken some UNLV community ed classes in drawing, watercolor, acrylics and abstract art. Along with life drawing sessions they were informative and fun.

This initial group became about taking one pose and then using different techniques learned in those UNLV classes. Now is the point where I will bow and pay homage to all watercolor artists. The MOST difficult! I also honor all those who work in charcoal so fluid and those whose knowledge of color is matchless. One day I will have that confidence.
